# What happened in the last 6 years? The effect of eSports

It doesn’t matter where you read about eSports, all sources say the same: it grows a lot each year, and it can easily fit big stadiums around the world. This was not the case in 2011, so we reproduced a study from back then to compare.

Skill development and competition have highly increased! – This is most likely due to the growth of eSports, which is backed by the fact that the only motivational factor that have lost value is recreation (relaxing).

Bonus info: Young people are the most competitive, and the older you get the more you play for recreation.
